Frequently asked questions:
“I’ve never danced before – is that going to be a problem?”
Not one bit. These classes are aimed specifically at YOU! Of course everyone learns at different paces but over the years we have found suitably simple and engaging steps for all of the dances, delivered at a good pace to give you the best opportunity to learn all the moves!
“I don’t have a partner. Can I come on my own?”
Again, this isn’t a problem as we always find a body for you to dance with! The dances that we teach are primarily ‘partner’ dances, so we may well pair you up with a fellow single dancer, one of our class assistants or a more experienced helper. You may even get to dance with the teacher too!
“I went to a dance class with my partner once before and they made us dance with other people – I didn’t like it!”
You’ve nothing to worry about in our classes. If a couple come to class with the intention of learning together, we don’t split them up. Of course if you want to have a dance with others during the class then that isn’t a problem either.
“Do I need to wear dance shoes or a special outfit to join the class?”
Definitely not. We always aim for our classes to be a casual, fun affair so you don’t need to go to any trouble with special dance shoes or a dance outfit. Always bear in mind that you will be up on your feet for the whole lesson, so something comfortable is a must. In the warmer months something that you can remove easily if you warm up is a good idea and when it’s a bit cooler, a loose cardigan or jumper is also good idea. Of course if you want to wear a bit of bling or some sequins, be our guest!
“I’m afraid of trying it for the first time – I’m sure I’ll look silly!”
Don’t be! All of our dancers, including us teachers, all started somewhere and you’ll be in a class full of people who have also never danced before. We do our utmost to ensure all of our classes are run in a warm and friendly environment where everyone is included and the emphasis is on having a good time!
“Can I try before I buy? Do I need to commit to the full 8 weeks? What if I don’t like it?”
We don’t offer a free trial, however all of our classes are pay as you go so you don’t need to commit to the full 8 week course. Dancing isn’t for everyone, but we really urge people to try it before they dismiss it! We’re sure you’ll love our classes and be back for more each and every week!
“Ok, so I’m really loving the classes but what can I do from week to week to check I’m practicing the steps right?”
We offer plenty of resource material, with teaching videos, tips, tricks and class routines on our YouTube channel, DizzyfeetTV. Learning solely from a video isn’t a great idea, but our helpful little clips are a great supplement to the classes we offer each week.

Can we just turn up on the day and join for the dance class or do we need to you that we coming

    • James Prouton - August 17, 2017 10:17 am

Hi Bethany, thank you for your enquiry.

We’ve got two Absolute Beginner classes starting in September.

Our Sunday course commencing on the 10th @ 6pm requires prior registration and costs £40 for all 8 weeks. You can provide payment via a banking payment in advance or cash/cheque on the day of the first class.

On Friday nights from the 15th September we have a drop-in class which doesn’t require any prior registration or sign up. This class costs £6 per person and is payable each week. This class runs from 7.30pm – 8.30pm.

Both classes cover the same dances, however our Friday class goes into a bit more detail and spends an extra week on each of the dances. Should you choose to join our 8 week course, the Friday night class can provide a great supplement to your learning, if you need extra practice or more help on a specific dance.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need any more information.

      Best regards,

I used to have ballroom and Latin dance lessons regularly. Would I be able to start at the improvers level
    Many thanks

    • Administrator - September 4, 2017 7:10 pm

Hi Jo, thanks for your message.
If you’re a competent dancer and can get around the floor unassisted (with a partner that is) then you’d certainly be able to fit in to our Improvers classes on a Wednesday evening. You’d be a welcome addition to our current crop of dynamic, vibrant and welcoming dancers!

We look forward to seeing you soon!

My husbands wrk is 4nights on and 4nigths off and definitely will hit fiday nights. Do you have tutoring class?

    • Administrator - September 4, 2017 7:15 pm

Hello Natalie, thank you for your message.
I’m not sure exactly what you mean by tutoring class? We offer private lessons from £15 which can be scheduled at a mutually convenient time. These always offer the quickest route to dancing perfection with us being able to tailor the lesson to your exact abilities and requirements. Let us know if you’d like to book one in.

All of our classes are available as ‘pay as you go’, so if you were to miss one of the Friday night sessions you could come along on a Sunday instead to keep up with what we’re covering. Drop us an email or give us a call and we can talk about how we might be able to accommodate you and your husbands work schedule. 🙂

  4. Maureen Osmond - September 13, 2017 7:50 pm

I would like to have the confidence to dance again. Am over 70 and unfit. Am also without a partner. Please advise as I realise I have missed the first week

    • Administrator - September 14, 2017 2:43 pm

You’re very welcome to come and join us Maureen, with or without a partner! Don’t worry that you’ve missed the first Sunday class as there’s plenty of opportunity to catch up!

  5. samantha thorne - September 13, 2017 9:57 pm

Hi what is the minimum age people can join. My daughter wants to start with me and she’s 15. Is this ok?

    • Administrator - September 14, 2017 2:45 pm

      Hi Samantha
We don’t have a minimum age as such. If she would like to come along with you, we don’t have a problem at all. In the past we’ve had many teenagers come along with their family members and join in the classes.
We hope you both enjoy and look forward to seeing you soon!

  6. Louise Wingfield - January 3, 2018 8:52 am

My daughter aged 10 (mature aged 10 – she really is!) has been desperate to learn to dance ballroom, latin, jive etc for about 6 years! We can not find a ‘proper’ dance class for her anywhere. She wants to REALLY learn, many classes are aimed at children and there is very little teaching. Can you advise please?

    Many thanks,
