Frequently asked questions:
“I’ve never danced before – is that going to be a problem?”
Not one bit. These classes are aimed specifically at YOU! Of course everyone learns at different paces but over the years we have found suitably simple and engaging steps for all of the dances, delivered at a good pace to give you the best opportunity to learn all the moves!
“I don’t have a partner. Can I come on my own?”
Again, this isn’t a problem as we always find a body for you to dance with! The dances that we teach are primarily ‘partner’ dances, so we may well pair you up with a fellow single dancer, one of our class assistants or a more experienced helper. You may even get to dance with the teacher too!
“I went to a dance class with my partner once before and they made us dance with other people – I didn’t like it!”
You’ve nothing to worry about in our classes. If a couple come to class with the intention of learning together, we don’t split them up. Of course if you want to have a dance with others during the class then that isn’t a problem either.
“Do I need to wear dance shoes or a special outfit to join the class?”
Definitely not. We always aim for our classes to be a casual, fun affair so you don’t need to go to any trouble with special dance shoes or a dance outfit. Always bear in mind that you will be up on your feet for the whole lesson, so something comfortable is a must. In the warmer months something that you can remove easily if you warm up is a good idea and when it’s a bit cooler, a loose cardigan or jumper is also good idea. Of course if you want to wear a bit of bling or some sequins, be our guest!
“I’m afraid of trying it for the first time – I’m sure I’ll look silly!”
Don’t be! All of our dancers, including us teachers, all started somewhere and you’ll be in a class full of people who have also never danced before. We do our utmost to ensure all of our classes are run in a warm and friendly environment where everyone is included and the emphasis is on having a good time!
“Can I try before I buy? Do I need to commit to the full 10 weeks? What if I don’t like it?”
We don’t offer a free trial, however all of our classes are pay as you go so you don’t need to commit to the full 10 week course. Dancing isn’t for everyone, but we really urge people to try it before they dismiss it! We’re sure you’ll love our classes and be back for more each and every week!
“Ok, so I’m really loving the classes but what can I do from week to week to check I’m practicing the steps right?”
We offer plenty of resource material, with teaching videos, tips, tricks and class routines on our YouTube channel, DizzyfeetTV. Learning solely from a video isn’t a great idea, but our helpful little clips are a great supplement to the classes we offer each week.
“Do I need to come to both classes in Fareham each week? Are the Southampton & Eastleigh classes different to the Fareham ones?”
All of our classes cover the same dance each week, with the same steps and same routines. Some of our dancers enjoy it all so much that they come to everything, however we’re sure that one visit a week is enough to get to grips with the basics of each dance. But, they do say that practice makes perfect and the more you do the quicker you’ll achieve dancing perfection!

      Hi Julie
We’ve got 2 courses starting in Fareham this September.
      Friday @ 7.15pm – starts on the 7th September
      Sunday @ 6pm – starts on the 9th September

Both classes will cover the same dance each week, for 2 consecutive weeks with regular recaps along the way. We plan to cover the Cha Cha Cha, Tango, Rumba & Waltz and expect to have you walking in and dancing out from the very first class!
All of our Fareham classes take place at 24/7 Fitness on Downend Road (please see our Fareham page for location details).
The 10 week course costs £60 if you register and pay in advance or alternatively you can pay £7 per person, pay as you go.
You don’t need a partner and it’s specifically aimed at complete beginners so no experience is necessary too!

If you need any more information or want to book don’t hesitate to get in touch.

      Best regards

I did ballroom dancing as a kid and tried to take it up again as an adult a few years ago, but the class was always full of women and I have no desire to dance the man’s part. What happens when there aren’t enough men? I’d love to dance again

      Hi Lynne
Our classes are typically a good mix of couples and single dancers, with a fair few single men on occasions! We always try to have our fair share of experienced dancers on hand too that can dance with any singles that come to our classes and in addition to this you can also dance with the teacher!
All of our classes are in fact pay as you go – although you can sign up and register for all 10 weeks at a discount – so if you feel it’s not for you then there’s no obligation. We certainly hope that you do enjoy it and keep coming back though!
Please do get in touch if you’d like any more information and we’ll be happy to help.
      Best wishes,
      James

I’d like to try the adult beginners course in Totton on pay as you go.
Do I have to sign up before, or just turn up each week?
I’ve never danced before, what sort of shoes would be suitable?

    Thank you 🙂

Hi Charlotte – thank you for your message.

You’d be very welcome to join our Monday night class in Totton from September. Don’t worry that you’ve never danced before as these classes are specifically for you!
All of our classes are in fact pay as you go, so this won’t be a problem, we just offer a discount if people pay up front for all 10 weeks.
With regards shoes we suggest something comfortable as you’ll be up on your feet for the whole hour. Fancy heels and dance shoes aren’t needed until you’ve got a bit of practice under your belt!

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need more information.

      Best regards,
      James
